ROAD by Christopher Wool [SIGNED]

アメリカ人アーティスト、クリストファー・ウール（Christopher Wool）の作品集。本書は作者が2015年から2017年にかけて撮影した一連の写真から構成されたアーティストブックである。

砂埃の舞う道、砂利道、草に覆われかけた道、あるいはタイヤの轍に刻まれた道。岩の広がる荒野を抜け、まばらな林を通り、切り立った崖に沿って続いていく。分かれ道が現れることは稀で、進む方向を選ぶ機会はほとんどない。一枚ごとに場所は変わっていくにもかかわらず、それらはすべて、テキサスの澄んだ光のもとを延々と進み続ける、ひとつの長い道のようにも感じられる。

「HOLZWARTH PUBLICATIONS」から刊行された作者によるアーティストブックである本作は、2022年までに『WESTTEXASPSYCHOSCULPTURE』（2017年）、本作『ROAD』（2017年）、『YARD』（2018年）、『SWAMP』（2019年）、『BAD RABBIT』（2022年）の5作がシリーズとして刊行されている。このシリーズは、ドナルド・ジャッド（Donald Judd）がテキサス州の砂漠地帯マーファに設立した現代美術館「チナティ・ファンデーション（チナティ財団 / Chinati Foundation）」周辺の道路や裏庭を撮影した2組の写真から始まった。

Road is an artist’s book composed from a series photographs that Christopher Wool shot between 2015 and 2017. Dust roads, gravel roads, partly overgrown or full of tire tracks, through desert and fields of rocks, through sparse woods and along precipices. Only seldom does a fork in the road offer a choice of which way to go, and though the place always changes from one shot to the next, it still feels like one long road traveled under the clear light of the Texas sun.
