2026年創刊の年二回刊行の雑誌『PROTOTYPE』の第0号。クリエイティブディレクターでありスタイリスト、また「i-D」誌の編集長を務めてきたアラステア・マッキム（Alastair McKimm）が編集長を務める。氏はこれまでにも、今回同様イギリスの出版社「IDEA」と協働して書籍を刊行してきている。

「PROTOTYPE」とは、アート、ファッション、デザイン、カルチャーが交差する地点に位置するクリエイティブ・プラットフォームであり、本誌の発行や、アーティストやクリエイティブパートナーとの厳選されたコラボレーションを通じて表現されている。

I like the magazine landscape; I like that my work acts within it. Regardless of my intentions, those images have to sit alongside everything else. Of course they run the risk of being unfavourably compared, or failing even to be seen! Especially now, when there are so many ways in which we view images. Most editorial is agendised in some shape or form: we create image systems for the purposes of selling what we don’t need. I rarely have an opportunity to work without servicing some commercial enterprise. So when I do, it’s (partly) driven by a belief that it will connect somehow somewhere, in the way that I connected to magazines in my formative years. There is the obvious unsolicited ‘come get me, but without the requisite demands: it’s like flinging yourself down a hill with no brakes. Obviously there can be consequences - there will always be the possibility of stumbling into the realms of the ridiculous - but I do it, stuck with the belief that pages can transmit and reach like minds, there’s capital in it.

The way in which Iggy describes his longing in ‘The Pure and the Damned’ has a hold on me; it reflects on the failed dream I still follow.

“It’s hard to say when photographing vintage clothes for fashion magazines began but, in my mind, it’s with Melanie Ward. She would dig through London’s charity shops to prepare for her stories for The Face, which have now become synonymous with the nineties movement which remains the most dominant reference in fashion today.
Our friends Isabella Burley and Ava Nirui continue this long legacy with their own, deep understanding of fashion history and sheer love for finding clothes - and so we invited them to discuss the thrill of the chase, and how it has informed their own lives, work and friendship.”
