「Deutsche Börse Photography Prize」受賞のアイルランド人フォトグラファー、リチャード・モス（Richard Mosse）の作品集。作者のシリーズの中で最も野心的とも言えるプロジェクト『Broken Spectre, 2018-20』に焦点を当てている。

アマゾンの熱帯雨林の破壊に警鐘を鳴らすべく、3年間かけて現地で過ごし記録した作品で構成されている。政治経済誌『エコノミスト（The Economist）』は、「力強さと緊急性 – ものの見方を変えさせる『芸術の力』を思い出させてくれる。」と評する。

『TATE PHOTOGRAPHY』は、イギリス政府が所有するイギリス美術コレクションや近現代美術コレクションを所蔵・管理する組織「テート（TATE）」が持つ写真作品を紹介するシリーズであり、その作家陣は世界で最も重要な写真家とされる面々が名を連ねる。各作品集には、セレクトされた一連の写真作品シリーズと、各作家の紹介や活動、対談などが収録されている。

本作を含む第二シリーズは「生態と環境（Ecology and Environment）」をテーマに企画されている。

Richard Mosse is an Irish conceptual documentary photographer living and working in New York.

The focus of this volume, Broken Spectre, 2018–20, is his most ambitious project to date. Comprising film and photography made over three years spent in the Amazon rainforest it has been described by the Economist as ‘Powerful and urgent – a reminder of art’s ability of shift perceptions.’

The Tate Photography Series is a celebration of photography by artists in the Tate collection, presenting the work of some of the most significant photographers in the world today. Each book features a specially selected sequence of images alongside an introduction and a conversation with or about each photographer’s practice. The unifying theme for this second group of titles in the series is Ecology and Environment.
