イギリス人フォトグラファー、リチャード・ビリンガム（Richard Billingham）の作品集。1996年にスイスの出版社「SCALO」により初版が刊行され、大きな賞賛を得た同名作品集の新版。本書は20世紀初頭における最も重要な写真集の一冊であり、「ヤング・ブリティッシュ・アーティスト（Young British Artists / YBAs）」世代の礎となった作品でもある。アルコール依存と貧困が重くのしかかり、混沌と化した作者の実家を密接に、ありのままに撮ったイメージ群で構成されており、アーティストであり作家のマイケル・コリンズ（Michael Collins）と、フォトグラファーのジュリアン・ジャーマン（Julian Germain）によって編集、1990年代に制作された。本版は、この深く個人的な作品に対する作者のオリジナルのビジョンが初めて復元された一冊である。多数の未公開作品や、画家としての習練が影響を与えた独特なシークエンスへのアプローチなどを含んでおり、新時代へと向けて常に挑戦し続け、活力あふれる作品を改めて紹介する、「ディレクターズ・カット」版とも言うべき一冊である。

新版の刊行に伴い同時発売される『RAY'S A LAUGH: A READER』では、「サンダーランド大学（Sunderland University）」在籍中のビリンガムの「発掘」から、2001年の「ターナー賞（Turner Prize）」へのノミネートを経て現在の改訂版の刊行にいたるまで、リズ・ジョビー（Liz Jobey）による編集で、この非常に人を惹きつける作品の歴史を辿っている。

This new edition restores Billingham’s original vision for his deeply personal work for the first time.
