NO JOKE by Asger Carlsen & Roger Ballen

ニューヨークを拠点とするデンマーク人フォトグラファー、アスガー・カールセン（Asger Carlsen）と、アメリカに生まれ、1970年代から南アフリカで活動しているフォトグラファー、ロジャー・バレン（Roger Ballen）による作品集。本コラボレーションにおいて、二人はそれぞれのアイデアやスケッチ、一度完成された作品を相手に渡し、手作業やデジタル加工によってそれぞれ手を加え新たに創作することで、制作者やプロセスという概念の枠を曖昧にしている。二人の作家は、現実とフィクションの間にある境界線をぼやけさせるような作風で知られており、本作は互いに刺激し合い影響されることにより期待を大きく上回るような作品へと昇華されている。

Asger Carlsen and Roger Ballen exchanged ideas, sketches and works and reworked them manually and digitally, blurring the lines of authorship and process. Both artists are known for their blurring of the line between the real world and the fictional. In NO JOKE they lead each other into what eventually becomes something larger then expected.
