イギリス人現代美術家、ジュリアン・オピー（Julian Opie）のカタログ・レゾネ第1巻。本書は1984年から2011年にかけて制作された版画およびエディション作品を収録し、多様なメディアを横断して展開されてきた作者の実践の歩みをたどる。

各プロジェクトには作者自身による解説が添えられ、極限まで簡略化された初期の風景画や肖像画から、シルエット作品、アニメーション、レンチキュラー作品、LEDアニメーションに至るまで、その展開を辿ることができる。

継続刊行が予定されているシリーズの第1巻となる本書には、イギリス、ロンドンの「クリステア・ロバーツ・ギャラリー（CRISTEA ROBERTS GALLERY）」（刊行当時は「アラン・クリステア・ギャラリー（ALAN CRISTEA GALLERY）」）の創設者であるアラン・クリステア（Alan Cristea）による序文に加え、「アイコン・ギャラリー（Ikon Gallery）」元館長のジョナサン・ワトキンス（Jonathan Watkins）によるエッセイ「Stripping, or The Pragmatism of Julian Opie」を収録。作者の制作手法や着想源について考察している。

Julian Opie's highly distinctive depictions of the modern world are created in an extraordinary variety of media; this publication, volume one of the artist’s catalogue raisonné of editioned work, charts the development of his practice from 1984 to 2011.

Commentary on each project by Opie guides the reader through his early very reductive landscapes and portraits, to silhouettes, animations, lenticulars and LED animations.

This momentous publication, the first in an ongoing series, also features a foreword by Alan Cristea and an essay by former director of Ikon Gallery, Jonathan Watkins entitled Stripping, or The Pragmatism of Julian Opie, which describes the artist’s methods and inspirations.
