本シリーズ『THE COMPLETE WORKS』は、ヘルツォーク・アンド・ド・ムーロンのプロジェクトにおけるスケールおよび制作プロセスの両面で変化していく姿を記録するものであり、第1巻から第6巻までで構成されている。各書は、実践の中核に最も近い位置にある、正確な一次出版物として、作品を同時代的文脈の中で提示している。

第1巻〜第3巻（1996年、1997年、2000年刊）では、よりアナログな制作手法と工程が主流を占めている一方、近年の第4巻〜第6巻（2009年、2018年、2020年刊）では、デジタルツールや設計技術への展開が明確に現れている。プロジェクトチームが選定した図版およびプロセス資料をもとに、編集チームが物語的な構成を組み立て、特定の側面を際立たせながら、プロジェクトがどのように展開していくのかを示している。

第3巻は、初版の改訂新版として刊行され、約40ページの増補と約80点のカラー図版が新たに加えられている。初版刊行時には、複数のプロジェクトが建設途中にあったが、現在はいずれも完成し、写真によって記録されている。バーゼルに建つ「ホフマン・ラ・ロシュ社（Hoffmann-La-Roche）」の研究棟、ミュンヘン中心部のプロジェクト「ファイブ・コートヤーズ（Five Courtyards）」、バーゼルの「セント・ヤコブ・スタジアム（St. Jakob Football Stadium）」、パリのリュ・デ・スイス通り（Rue des Suisses）に建つ集合住宅がそれにあたる。

Volume 3 of their Complete Works is now being published in an updated new edition, enlarged by some 40 pages and approximately 80 colour illustrations.

At the time of the first edition, a number of the projects were under construction.
These have now been completed and are documented with photographs: the Laboratory Building of Hoffmann-La-Roche in Basel, the project in the city center “Five Courtyards” in Munich, the St. Jakob Football Stadium in Basel, and the residential buildings on the Rue des Suisses in Paris.
