アメリカ人アーティスト、アンディ・ウォーホル（Andy Warhol）の作品集。本書は、『Tate Introductions: Andy Warhol』の復刻版であり、2020年3月から11月にかけてロンドンの「テート・モダン（Tate Modern）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。人気シリーズ『Tate Introductions』の1つである本書は、今でも変わらず重要な作者の生涯と作品をフルカラーの図版で紹介する入門書として最適な1冊。

ポップアートの中心人物である作者は、20世紀後半に最も重要で影響力のあるアーティストの一人であった。1960年代には、大衆文化と視覚芸術の相互作用の拡大を探求し始め、芸術の広まりのための新しいプロセスを常に試し、今日の文化や芸術へのアクセスを再定義する極めて重要な役割を果たした。絶頂期の作者は、「絵画をやめる」と宣言し、出版、映画、ファッション、音楽、放送など、理論上、無限の経路に専念する方向へと自らの活動を移行させた。芸術と革新的な思想の「伝達」こそが、「アートは大衆のためにあるべき」という作者の倫理観を具現化したものだった。

A central figure in pop art, Andy Warhol (1928–87) was one of the most significant and influential artists of the later twentieth century.
