アメリカ人彫刻家、フレッド・サンドバック（Fred Sandback）の作品集。2024年10月から2025年3月までリスボンの「Museu de Arte Contemporânea e Centro de Arquitetura」で開催した展覧会に伴い刊行された。

作者の実践は、糸とロッドを一貫して用いる点において特異であった。本書は、新たに執筆されたエッセイと歴史的テキストを集成し、徹底してミニマルでありながら空間的広がりをもつ彫刻実践を検証する。

作者の作品に通底する繊細さと精密さを反映するよう、ベルギーを拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイナーであるフィリップ・タック（Filiep Tacq）がデザインを手がけ、「ニューヨーク近代美術館（The Museum of Modern Art, New York）」所属のキュレーター、リリアン・トーン（Lilian Tone）が編集を担当する。「ヴァレンシア近代美術館（Institut Valencià d'Art Modern）」館長のヌリア・エンギータ（Nuria Enguita）、ポルトガルのキュレーター、デルフィム・サルド（Delfim Sardo）、スイスの建築史家フィリップ・ウルスプルング（Philip Ursprung）、アメリカ人キュレーター、ジョアン・サイモン（Joan Simon）、そして作者自身によるテキストに加え、未発表資料も収録する。

理論的考察、個人的回想、歴史的文脈化を横断しながら、アクリル糸によって空間そのものを描き出すという作家特有の手法を探る。建築を想起させつつ、不在によって存在を喚起するその実践が明らかにされる。

Fred Sandback's practice was singular in its consistent use of thread and rods. This publication brings together newly commissioned essays and historical writings that examine the artist's radically minimal yet spatially expansive sculptural practice.

Designed by Filiep Tacq to reflect the subtlety and precision of Sandback's work, the book, edited by Lilian Tone, includes contributions by Nuria Enguita, Delfim Sardo, Philip Ursprung, Joan Simon, and Sandback himself as well as previously unpublished documentation. Across theoretical reflection, personal recollection, and historical contextualisation, the texts explore the artist's signature use of acrylic yarn to draw space itself, evoking presence through absence and architecture.
