日本人フォトグラファー、河野幸人の自費出版作品。本書はその多くを本の形態で発表する作者の作品の中でも、最もミニマルで直接的な表現がなされた一冊。旅行の際に撮影されたパーソナルなポートレートはとめどなく反復され、平面でありながらも奥行きを持つかのような映像的感覚を引き起こす。年期の入ったコピー機を用いて時間をかけて印刷するという行為や和綴じによる身体性の痕跡は、過去の記憶や経験といった不確かなものを目に見える形で留めておこうとする極めて根源的な人の営みを体現しており、本書がコンセプチャルでありながらも様々な文脈を介した私写真作品であるということも物語っている。

Raster is an experimental piece of work by Yukihito Kono which consists of the repetition of portraits of his partner taken in the morning of a day of journey they had in Japan. Where is the soul of photograph? Is there something inside or something missing? As many of precursors have sought the answer to those questions, Raster raises a doubt towards our perception of images and the conception of ‘photography’ in a minimalistic way.
