ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するアメリカ人フォトグラファー、カルロス・ジャラミロ（Carlos Jaramillo）の作品集。

作者は22歳のとき、オールド・ハバナへの旅に出ようとしていた直前に、自分がそれまで信じていたキューバ系メキシコ系アメリカ人ではなく、コロンビア系メキシコ系アメリカ人であることを知る。それでも旅に出たが、その旅はもはや帰郷としての意味を持たなくなっていた。そのような心境のなかで出会ったのが、鳥を蛍光色に染めることでオールド・ハバナ一帯に知られる、キューバの鳩レース愛好家エリスランディ（Erislandy）である。

本書は、オールド・ハバナにおける鳩レースの伝統を記録するだけでなく、作者と、作者が何度も訪ね父親のような存在とみなしたエリスランディとの関係、さらには行き場のない状態にあった当時の作者自身の心境をも描き出している。

本書にはチカーナ研究者アイダ・ウルタド（Aída Hurtado）による詩が添えられ、デザインはニューヨークを拠点とする「Studio Lin」、編集はキュレーターのマーサ・ナランホ・サンドバル（Martha Naranjo Sandoval）が手がけている。

Carlos Jaramillo was twenty-two and about to embark on a trip to Old Havana when he found out he was Colombian-Mexican-American and not Cuban-Mexican-American, like he had thought up to that point. Carlos still went on the trip, which no longer held a homecoming significance. It was in this state of mind that he met Erislandy, a Cuban pigeon racer who’s known throughout Old Havana for dyeing his birds fluorescent colors. 

Picadero not only documents the tradition of Old Havanan colombofilia, pigeon racing; the relationship between Carlos and Erislandy, who he visited multiple times and viewed as a father figure; and even more so his state of mind at a moment of impasse.

This colorful book is accompanied by a poem by Chicana scholar Aída Hurtado, designed by Studio Lin, and edited by Martha Naranjo Sandoval.
