Kengo Kuma – Portugal's national Pavilion is an impressively high-quality, beautifully crafted book about an iconic, emblematic work, featuring exclusive content.
Browsing through the book, one can clearly appreciate its impressive quality. As is customary in all House Details publications and unique in the publishing market, this book was produced based on the complete CAD project (with subsequent content selection), as was done in the books that the publisher produced about the Pritzker Prize winners, Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura. For this, the publisher House Details expresses its recognition and profound gratitude. The publication was the result of the usual effort, deep rigour, and great dedication of the architects at House Details, each with over 25 years of project experience.
The publication contains three remarkable interviews. The photographs of this Portugal Pavilion are absolutely stunning, impressively beautiful, taken by the Project Director.

Kengo Kuma – Portugal Pavilion is an impressively high-quality, beautifully crafted book about an iconic, emblematic work, featuring exclusive content.
This book was created with the utmost effort, dedication, and profound rigour, providing as much information as possible so that every reader can evaluate the project with full knowledge of the facts. On our part, we aimed to raise all the questions that readers might wish to ask about the architectural project, and Kengo Kuma generously and patiently answered them all.
The same applies to the interviews with the Project Director and the Partner of the studio. We followed the same principle in selecting the technical drawings and other content. Browsing through the book, one can clearly appreciate its impressive quality. Among many other features, it contains almost 100% exclusive content, the project in CAD format (not PDF), and photographs over a century old – all with full rights cleared. Even the print tests were done using offset printing, which is extraordinarily rare in the publishing world.
The publication contains three remarkable interviews. The architect Kengo Kuma, the author of the project, in the text he wrote for the book and in his interview, reveals his respect for Portugal through unusually strong words. The interview is not an easy one but once again emphasises and reveals the tribute he paid to that country, the respect he holds for it, and his clear intention to build bridges of friendship between Portugal and Japan.
The Partner involved with the project is Portuguese architect Rita Topa. She has deep project experience not only in Portugal and Japan but also worldwide. The same applies to the Project Director, architect Andrea Toccolini. Both generously gifted the publisher with excellent interviews.
The photographs of this Portugal Pavilion are absolutely stunning, impressively beautiful, taken by the Project Director.
We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to produce this book, as well as for the exclusivity granted to us for almost 100% of its content.

Our commitment is always pushed to the limit, especially regarding technical matters. Even in other aspects, we strongly desire to deliver the best.
We really hope you enjoy it.
We thank everyone involved, both in Portugal and Japan, for the kindness and generosity with which we were always treated and received.
A hug to everyone involved and to you too, the reader.
