2010年10月4日夜、作者はフランクフルト市内でパブリック・アートを立ち上げ、ニコライ教会、レーマー広場、ドライケーニッヒ教会、文学館、カタリーネン教会、フランクフルト現代アート美術館という6つの公共施設の建物にスクロールするテキスト作品のプロジェクションを実施した。全てのテキストは都市そのものか、ドイツのプロテスタント宗派の歴史に関連するものであり、ヴィスワヴァ・シンボルスカ（Wisława Szymborska）、テオドール・W・アドルノ（Theodor W. Adorno）、ディートリヒ・ボンヘッファー（Dietrich Bonhoeffer）、マルティン・ブーバー（Martin Buber）、ヨハン・ヴォルフガング・フォン・ゲーテ（Johann Wolfgang von Goethe）、セーレン・オービュ・キェルケゴール（Søren Aabye Kierkegaard）、マルティン・ルター（Martin Luther）、フリードリヒ・ダニエル・エルンスト・シュライアマハー（Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher）、パウル・ティリッヒ（Paul Tillich）といった哲学者や詩人、作家の作品から引用されたものであった。本書は、その作品を記録したものであり、作者にとっては異例の長文の抜粋が、重厚感あるサンセリフ体の大文字で収められ、ドイツの知的・文学的遺産をいかにドラマチックに表現したかを示している。

Jenny Holzer's portrayal of the city of Frankfurt am Main is one possible response to the loss of the single word within the everyday noise of words. The American artist is famous internationally for her conceptual, poetic works located in the urban space. She shapes a language of dialogue in her light projections that look at the major issues of life that could be engulfed by the bustle of noise and light. This publication documents For Frankfurt via many brilliant photographs and the accompanying text provides insight into the conceptual background of the portrayal.
