イタリア人ファッションフォトグラファー、ダヴィデ・ソレンティ（Davide Sorrenti）の作品集。

1994〜1995年に書き留められた作者のジャーナルを収めた本書。惜しくも20歳で早逝した作者が、短い活動の幕開けとして放った2年間の創作の熱が、そのまま息づくように刻まれている。

これまで同出版社「IDEA」は、作者の写真集を3冊刊行してきた。いずれも母であるフランチェスカ・ソレンティ（Francesca Sorrenti）が編集を手がけ、初のモノグラフである『ArgueSKE 1994–1997』、ポラロイド写真を集めた『POLAROIDS』、そしてファッションイメージを中心にまとめた『My Beutyfull Lyfe』がある。さらに、ドキュメンタリー映画『See Know Evil』（2018）の世界各地での上映、ニューヨーク（2019）とミラノ（2022）で開催された展覧会「Our Beutyfull Future」、そして家族や友人たちの変わらない作者への思いが、作者とその仕事を現代文化の最前線へと押し上げてきた。

アイデア、ドローイング、短い文章、切り抜き、コンタクトシート、試し刷り、フライヤーなど、90年代当時の日々と世界観がそのまま詰め込まれた本書には、作者の最初の2冊のジャーナルが収録されている。オリジナルのジャーナルは2.5cm（1インチ）ほどの薄いノートだったが、ページをめくる人の手を受けて徐々に厚みを増し、最終的には10cm（4インチ）近いボリュームへと膨らんでいった。時の経過とともにテープは黄ばみ、角は擦れ、写真は色褪せたが、そこに残ったのは、作者をかたちづくった人々や瞬間が宿る、生きたアーカイブだった。本書は、才気あふれる作者が残したものを一冊の大判ハードカバーにまとめ、作者のジャーナルの表紙を再現したコラージュのダストジャケットを施している。

The new IDEA book is Volume 1 of DAVIDE SORRENTI JOURNALS. The extraordinary first journals of Davide Sorrenti dated 1994–1995. Two years of intense creativity at the start of his short-lived career.

To this day, IDEA has published three books by Davide Sorrenti, all edited by Francesca Sorrenti, his mother: the retrospective monograph ArgueSKE 1994–1997 (now three sold-out editions between 2019–2022), POLAROIDS (two sold-out editions in 2020 and 2023) and the fashion imagery focused My Beutyfull Lyfe in 2022. Those books, along with the documentary See Know Evil (2018), shown at many film festivals worldwide, the Our Beutyfull Future exhibitions in New York (2019) and Milan (2022) and the undying love of the Sorrenti family and friends, have brought Davide and his work to the forefront of contemporary culture.

Davide’s journals are a raw testament to the sheer abundance of his creativity. This is where he collected ideas, drawings, writing, tear and contact sheets, test prints, flyers – lasting records of his life and world. Davide was so gifted. And now this perfect gift of a book, a big hardcover monograph wrapped in a dustjacket reproducing the collaged cover of his first journal.

Volume 1 contains the first two journals, marking the beginning of his story. What started as a slim one-inch notebook eventually grew to nearly four inches thick, worn and fragile from years of being handled by friends who loved leafing through its pages. With time, the tape yellowed, the corners curled, and the photographs began to fade, but what remained was more powerful: a living archive of his world—the people, the passions, the fleeting moments that defined him.

The book was curated and edited by Francesca Sorrenti, Davide’s mother:
