フランス人コンセプチュアルアーティスト、ダニエル・ビュラン（Daniel Buren）の作品集。本書は、共同制作者たちの反応も交えて紹介した作者の50年間の制作の記録である。柱、壁にカラフルなガラスやストライプをつけて建物を変身させてみせる「works in situ（原位置の作品）」で作者はよく知られている。

その全経歴にわたってまとめられたモノグラフである本書には、総勢39名の寄稿とそれにまつわる図版資料が添えられている。寄稿者陣の共通点として、作者ダニエル・ビュランというアーティストが形成された時期に、寄稿者らにとってもビュランにとっても、その道が交差（CROSS）していたということである。ソフィ・カル（Sophie Calle）やハンス・ハーケ（Hans Haacke）など、キュレーター、ギャラリスト、コレクター、美術評論家、そしてアーティスト仲間など、作者の人生と芸術の形成に影響を与えてきた面々が揃う。

編集は、キュレーターであり本書の版元であるデンマークの出版社「ルーレット・ルス（Roulette Russe）」のヘレネ・ガムスト（Helene Gamst）が手がける。

French conceptual artist Daniel Burn (born 1938) is famous for his “works in situ,” often transforming buildings through colorful glass and stripes placed on columns or walls.

This career-spanning monograph includes contributions by curators, gallerists and fellow artists such as Sophie Calle, Hans Haacke and more. This publication was made in cooperation with Roulette Russe, Denmark.

A total of 39 people have contributed to CRISS-CROSS, the contributors have in common that their paths have crossed those of Daniel Buren at a formative time – for themselves as well as for Daniel Buren. CRISS-CROSS tells the story of Daniel Buren through the voices of people he has collaborated with during the last 55 years; writers, curators, gallerists, collectors, colleagues, art critics who all had an impact on shaping his life and art. The written contributions are accompanied by a generous amount of captivating visual material referring to the projects Buren did through the selected collaborations.
