Scott began her career at British Vogue in the mid-1980s when she assisted the then Fashion Director, Grace Coddington. She left to go freelance and began styling for publications including The Face, Arena, Italian Vogue and i-D, creating iconic imagery through her collaborations with photographers, in particular Juergen Teller. Well known for her distinctive style and original casting choices, she continued to cement her status as an image maker. In 1997, Venetia began consulting for Marc Jacobs where she became Creative Director in 2001, a role she held for over fifteen years. In 2006 Scott started to take photographs and has since shot for many titles including Self Service, British Vogue, W Magazine, Another, Dazed, i-D, Document Journal, Pop and Purple. In 2017, Venetia was appointed Fashion Director of British Vogue.
