イタリアの出版社「TONINI EDITORE」が、毎月一人のアーティストにフィーチャーし発行するシリーズ、『AUTOBIOGRAPHY』の第13号。デザイン、ページ数が統一された中でアーティストたちは自伝的なテーマをテキストあるいはイメージによって表現している。

各号のアーティストの選定は、コレクターであり「coleção moraes-barbosa」を主催するペドロ・バルボーザ（Pedro Barbosa）、美術史家のアレックス・ベーコン（Alex Bacon）、ギャラリー「Studio Guenzani」を主宰するクラウディオ・グエンザーニ（Claudio Guenzani）、アーティストであり作曲家、タイポグラファーのミシェル・ロンバルデリ（Michele Lombardelli）、作家であり研究者、インドの「コーチ=ムジリス・ビエンナーレ」の発起人でもあるシュウェタル・アシュヴィン・パテル（Shwetal Ashvin Patel）、コレクターであり学者のクリストフ・シファーリー（Christoph Schifferli）、「homonymous publishing house」のディレクター、ヴァレンティノ・トニーニ（Valentino Tonini）が務める。

第13号は、ベルリンを拠点に活動するイタリア人アーティスト、アンドレア・サルヴィノ（Andrea Salvino）。作者のアーティスティック・リサーチは歴史と密接に結びついており、主に20世紀から現代までのイタリアやヨーロッパの政治的、社会的、そして映画的なイコノグラフィー（図像学）をインスピレーション源としている。

政治的な出来事、戦争、ポルノ、エロティシズム、コスチューム、映画など、作者のドローイングは、あたかもそれらが過去のリアリティの断片であるかのように、鑑賞者にアイデンティティの「かけら」を提供し、回復させる。実際、作者は政治的あるいはイデオロギー的な立場をとることなく、作品を通じて歴史的事実などを想起させ、記憶に導く要素としてのイメージの重要性と力を明らかにしている。そして最終的に、あらゆるタブーを超えた親和性の世界を認識させる。被写体は、ほとんど強迫観念的な親しみをもって扱われ、勢いを伝え、鑑賞者の想像力を育むことのできる、速く、顕著な筆致によって描かれている。

本作は、映画のスチル写真、名画のディテール、セレブの写真など、長年にわたって作者の作品を特徴づけてきたさまざまな視覚的要素を用いている。

Autobiography is a series by Tonini Editore, published monthly.

Each volume will be dedicated to an artist, who will be free to carry out the topic of the autobiography by means of text or visual supports. Belonging to a series, each book will have the same size (17x12 cm) and maximum amount of pages (64).

The selection of the artists participating to the series is coordinated by a scientific committee made up of six renown personalities in the world of the art research and collection:

1. Pedro Barbosa (collector and founder of the Coleção Moraes - Barbosa);
2. Alex Bacon (art historian);
3. Claudio Guenzani (gallery owner in Milan, owner of the Studio Guenzani);
4. Michele Lombardelli (artist, composer, typographer and consultant for several publishing houses);
5. Shwetal Ashvin Patel (writer and researcher, founding member of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale);
6. Christoph Schifferli (collector and scholar);
7. Valentino Tonini (director of the homonymous publishing house).
