ドイツ発の建築・都市化に焦点を当てた雑誌「ARCH+」250号。本号のテーマは「THE GREAT REPAIR: POLITICS FOR A SOCIETY OF REPAIR—A READER」。

消費、浪費、そして骨の髄まで絞り取った資源に基づく経済システムと、成長、発展に重点を置くこの資本主義の時代は、人々と自然を無慈悲に搾取するまでに至ってしまった。その対抗措置として、「THE GREAT REPAIR」プロジェクトはケア、メンテナンス、修繕の実践を中心とするリペア社会という考え方を提唱している。本書は、「ARCH+」、「ベルリン芸術アカデミー（Akademie der Künste）」、「スイス連邦工科大学チューリヒ校建築学科（Department of Architecture, ETH Zurich）」と「ルクセンブルク大学地理学・空間設計学科（Department of Geography and Spatial Planning, University of Luxembourg）」のコラボレーションによって始まった本プロジェクトの理論的な導入である。本書の刊行に続いて「ベルリン芸術アカデミー」にて2023年の秋に展覧会とイベントプログラムが開かれ、それに伴い別途展覧会カタログも刊行。

同雑誌チーム編集のクリスティアン・ヒラー（Christian Hiller）、同じくマルクス・クリーガー（Markus Krieger）とアレックス・ネーマー（Alex Nehmer）、建築家であり同雑誌の編集長であるアイン＝リン・ゴー（Anh-Linh Ngo）、建築家でありルクセンブルク大学教授のフロリアン・ヘルトヴェック（Florian Hertweck）、建築家でありスイス連邦工科大学チューリヒ校准教授ミリツァ・トパロヴィチ（Milica Topalović）、建築家でありスイス連邦工科大学チューリヒ校博士課程終了、ルクセンブルク大学博士研究員のマリヤ・マリッチ（Marija Marić）、建築家であり研究者のナズリ・チュメルデム（Nazlı Tümerdem）が編集を手がけた。

The modern capitalist era, with its emphasis on growth and progress and an economic system based on consumption, wastage, and resources being bled dry, has led to the ruthless exploitation of people and nature. As a counter to this, “The Great Repair” project puts forward the idea of a repair society centred on practices of care, maintenance, and mending. The Great Repair: The Politics of the Repair Society — A Reader presents a theoretical introduction to the project, which arose as a
collaboration between ARCH+, the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, and the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning at the University of Luxembourg. It will be followed in autumn 2023 by an exhibition and event programme at the Akademie der Künste, which will be accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.
