中国系フランス人アーティスト、チェン・ゼン（陳真、Chen Zhen）の作品集。作者は、家具や自転車、樽などのファウンド・オブジェクトを用いた大型のアッサンブラージュ彫刻作品で知られている。本書は、2020年10月から2021年6月にかけてミラノの美術館「ピレリ・ハンガービコッカ（Pirelli HangarBicocca）」で開催された回顧展に伴い刊行され、1991年から2000年にかけて長らく構想されてきた大規模なインスタレーション作品にまつわる研究を掘り下げ収録した1冊である。アメリカ人美術史家・キュレーターのアレクサンドラ・マンロー（Alexandra Munroe）、イタリア人美術評論家・キュレーターのマルコ・スコティーニ（Marco Scotini）、そして本展のキュレーションを担当し、「ピレリ・ハンガービコッカ」のアーティスティックディレクターを務めるヴィセンテ・トドリ（Vicente Todolí）によるエッセイも掲載。作品の主要なコンセプトを作者自身が書き下ろした文章を抜粋しながら紹介している。また、展覧会の鑑賞経路を追った記録写真や、各作品の細かな解説が掲載されているほか、作者よる準備段階のスケッチの一部なども収録。

Published on occasion of the homonymous exhibition at Pirelli HangarBicocca, the catalogue presents the research on large-scale installations conceived by Chen Zhen (1955-2000) from 1991 to 2000. It includes essays by art historian and curator Alexandra Munroe, by critic and curator Marco Scotini, and by Artistic Director and curator of the exhibition Vicente Todolí, introducing key-concepts coined by Chen Zhen, illustrated through extracts of the artist’s own writings. Together with an in-depth documentation of the exhibition path, the publication is enriched by detailed entries related to each work on display, and by a selection of the artist’s preparatory sketches.
