ノルウェーを拠点とする写真家、グラフィックデザイナー、ヨーン・アーガールド（Jørn Aagaard）の作品集。ノルウェーのオスロ国立芸術大学のグラフィックデザイン修士課程で学んだことが詰め込まれた一冊。ロサンゼルスのロスフェリスの丘に立つ建築家フランク・ロイド・ライト（Frank Lloyd Wright）が手がけた「エニスハウス」を撮った40枚の写真で構成され、建築ライターであり雑誌『Real Review』を主宰するジャック・セルフ（Jack Self）がエッセイを寄稿。フランク・ロイド・ライトがデザインしたこの大豪邸は、1920年代に建設された。1982年公開のリドリー・スコットの『ブレードランナー』のプロダクションデザインは、この邸宅の特徴的な「建築言語」にインスパイアされたものだという。この映画の舞台はディストピア的近未来として2019年のロサンゼルスが設定されているが、オープニングクロールで使用されているフォントは、あえて未来を感じさせないよう1915年にフレデリック・ウィリアム・ガウディーがデザインした「Goudy Old Style」が選ばれており、本書でも同フォントを採用した。作者の卒業制作展の際には、本書から抜粋した4つの写真を額装して展示、あわせてエニス・ハウスの外壁に使用されているブロックの実寸模型も2点飾られた。

The Ennis House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and constructed in the 1920s. In 1982, the house' distinctive architectural language formed the foundation for much of the production design in Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner." The film is set in a dystopian future Los Angeles of 2019, but the opening crawl is distinctly un-futuristic in its choice of typography. It uses Goudy Old Style designed by Frederic W. Goudy in 1915. Naturally, the book's typography is set in Goudy and the graduation exhibition features four framed photos from the book along with two replicas of the bricks from the house in true scale. "The House on the Hill" is a photo book and the result of Aagard's MA in graphic design at Oslo National Academy of the Arts in Norway. The book features 40 photographs from the Ennis House in the hills of Los Feliz in Los Angeles and an essay by the architect and Editor-in-Chief of Real Review, Jack Self.
