本書は、ヨーロッパを代表する14名へのインタビューを通して、建築の現状を考察する一冊である。

この30年余り、建築を取り巻く環境は、新自由主義が世界的に浸透するなかで大きく変化してきた。現代建築には、低コストで、中立的かつ柔軟であることが求められ、市場原理という遍在する力のもとに置かれている。本書は、ヨーロッパを代表する建築家や建築批評家ら14名へのインタビューを通して、建築と経済的圧力、そして社会的価値との関係を多角的に論じながら、今日の建築生産を取り巻く条件を明らかにする。

Over the last three decades, architectural production appears to decline under the global influence of neoliberalism. Contemporary architecture is asked to be cheap, neutral and adaptable, subject to the omnipresent power of the market. "Architecture in the Age of Neoliberalism" aims to highlight the current conditions for architectural production through a series of fourteen interviews, discussing the relation of architecture, economic pressure and societal values.
