NYに拠点を置くアメリカ人アーティスト、ルーク・バーバー・スミス（Luke Barber-Smith）による作品集。6年以上に渡って撮り溜められたスクリーンショット画像のシリーズを、リソグラフ（デジタル孔版）印刷による特性を生かして制作された一冊。極小のピクセルで構成された抽象イメージは、通常のカラー画像をレイヤーに分けそれぞれをグレイスケール状態にする過程を経て見つけることができたヴィジュアルであり、それは作家にとって新たな発見となった。全50枚のイメージを収録、タイトルと作家の名前が彫られたUSBメモリーが付属する。USBメモリーには、2016年に作家が作った117MBのデジタルネガティブファイル（.dng）形式画像が収納されている。長辺最大101.6 cmものサイズに印刷することができ、またクロモジェニック・プリントやインクジェット・プリントなど様々な印刷方法に対応し得る。

The spiral-bound risograph prints featured in Luke Barber-Smith’s “MASKS” capture a series of screenshots that were collected over the course of 6 years. Revealing pixelated abstractions imperceptible in standard RGB or CMYK formats, each image was a revelation to the artist, coming to light only after he had completed layering an image file, then isolated it and viewed the grayscale in Photoshop. Composed of 50 images, this selection summarizes the artists use of traditional photography with drawing and painting; each individually printed book includes an engraved USB drive that holds a 117mb digital negative file (DNG) made by Barber-Smith in 2016. The image is capable of being reproduced on surfaces of up to 40 inches and can take on a variety of media; traditional chromogenic print, inkjet, canvas, or other applicable substrates.
