アメリカ人彫刻家、ジョセフ・ハヴェル（Joseph Havel）の作品集。2022年4月から8月にかけてアメリカ・テキサスにある現代美術館「ダラス・コンテンポラリー（Dallas Contemporary）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。本作は、ペットであるオウム（Parrot）のハンナの助けを借りてパンデミック下で「共同」制作された、ブロンズと樹脂性のトーテム（信仰）的彫刻作品と壁面アッサンブラージュ作品を紹介する。ハンナと共に体験した世界的感染拡大の中での生活に焦点が当てられており、かねてより制作していた作品に対し、パンデミックの中でハンナが重要な構成要素である段ボールを解体する作業を加えることで作品の強度が増している。

作者は一貫して、形、質感、空間に対する慣習的な見方、形式に対して挑んでおり、エコロジー、脆さ、バランス、変容といったテーマを、日常にありふれた素材で表現している。

展覧会の風景に加え、美術館ディレクターであるピーター・ドロシェーンコ（Peter Doroshenko）と作者との対談を収録。

Joseph Havel: Parrot Architecture is a volume produced on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition of wall assemblages and totemic bronze and resin sculptures—made during the pandemic by Houston-based sculptor Joseph Havel with the help of his pet parrot Hannah. It contains a conversation between Havel and Peter Doroshenko and installation views of the exhibition at Dallas Contemporary. Havel consistently challenges traditional perceptions of form, texture, and space through his sculptures to address themes such as ecology, fragility, balance, and transformation. Hannah the parrot played a role in deconstructing cardboard boxes that eventually became essential components of the final artworks.
