TOKYO PRIVATE (UN ROMAN PHOTO) by Harold Ancart

In 2018, Harold Ancart (b.1980, Brussels, Belgium) traveled across Japan and Thailand, journaling along the way. Tokyo Private (Un Roman Photo) consists of loosely connected personal essays and fragmented ideas that respond to the author’s surroundings while on the trip with his friend. Printed in a limited run of 800 copies, on Japanese paper with several production finishes. Published by Zolo Press in 2019.

I am about to fly out. I have the feeling that the best part of my trip is going to be missing her. There is nothing like longing for someone while traveling the world. That feeling puts you to sleep at night and wakes you up in the morning. Longing is the most beautiful feeling. Especially, when there is no guarantee that the person you’re thinking of is sharing the sentiment. All that is left to you is hope. Hope in your own faith. Keep your head cold. Be thankful for what is given, thankful to have someone to long for, and fly.” - Harold Ancart
