本書はゲーリーの初期作品を再訪する。この時期、ゲーリーは低コスト建築や既製の建材を用いながら、ロサンゼルス周辺で極めて独創的な一連の建築を手がけた。「ジェミニ G.E.L.（Gemini G.E.L.）」（1979年）、「スピラー邸（Spiller House）」（1980年）、「インディアナ・アヴェニュー・ハウス（Indiana Avenue Houses）」（1981年）、「ベンソン邸（Benson House）」（1984年）、「ノートン邸（Norton House）」（1984年）の5作を撮影した未発表写真と図面の再録に加え、批評的視点を提示するテキストを収録する。

This publication revisits some of Frank Gehry's lesser-known early works, built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. During this period, Gehry experimented with low-cost construction and "off the shelf" materials in creating a series of highly inventive projects in the Los Angeles area. Johan Dehlin's previously unseen pictures of the Gemini G.E.L. (1979), Spiller House (1980), Indiana Avenue Houses (1981), Benson House (1984) and Norton House (1984) are accompanied by newly reproduced drawings of the architect and a series of texts that provide fresh critical perspectives.
