オランダ人デザイナー、アルド・バッカー（Aldo Bakker）の講義とその生徒たちの記録をまとめた作品集。2015年、マールテン・ヴァン・セーヴェレン財団とヘント芸術大学（KASK）デザイン学科は、ベルギー人家具デザイナーのマールテン・ヴァン・セーヴェレン（Maarten Van Severen）の作品の関連性と意義を今日のデザイナーに伝えるための講座を設けることを決定した。それ以降毎年マールテン・ヴァン・セーヴェレンの作品に共感する一流のデザイナーが講義とマスタークラスを開催している。講師は、自分の作品とマールテン・ヴァン・セーヴェレンの作品との共通点や、現在のデザイン文化の観点から彼の作品の特徴について考察する。MVSCシリーズ第一弾の講師はフランス人デザイナー、エルワン・ブルレック（Erwan Bouroullec）、第二弾はブレノスアイレスに生まれスイスを拠点とするプロダクトデザイナー、アルフレッド・ハベリ（Alfredo Häberli）が務めた。2018年2月から3月に開催されたMVSCシリーズ第3弾では、アルド・バッカー（Aldo Bakker）が6校から集まった14人の学生に対しマスタークラスの講義を行った。ベルギー、ゲントのMiry Concert hallにて、同年3月6日に3度目のMVSC講義の成果が発表される場が設けられ、美しいカトラリーのコレクションが並んだ。バッカーによる講義の書き起こしと、バッカーによるインタビュー、そして生徒たちの成長を見て取れるマスタークラスの概要が収録されている。

In 2015 The Maarten Van Severen Foundation and the Department of Design of KASK / School of Arts Ghent decided to establish a chair with the aim of conveying the relevance and significance of Maarten Van Severen’s work for today’s designers. Every year a leading designer, whose work has an affinity with the work of Maarten Van Severen, will give a lecture and a masterclass. He or she will reflect on the common ground between their work and that of Maarten van Severen and on the qualities of his work in light of the current design culture. The first edition was in the hands of Erwan Bouroullec. The second edition was done by Alfredo Häberli. In February / March 2018, Dutch designer Aldo Bakker gave a lecture and a masterclass with 14 students from 6 different schools. The result is a fascinating collection of cutlery, which we proudly present as the third MVSC Cahier the 6th of March at Miry Concert hall in Ghent. It contains a transcription of Aldo Bakker’s lecture, an interview with Bakker and a visual overview of the masterclass that documents the students’ progress.
