スイスのバーゼル出身建築家ユニット、「ヘルツォーク＆ド・ムーロン（Herzog & de Meuron / HdM）」のスツール。「X-ロッカー（X-Rocker）」は、CNC（Computer Numerical Control）加工によって切り出された3本の木製脚を組み合わせ、中央の一点で交差・噛み合う構造を成している。

カーブを描いた座面とベースは交換することができる作りになっており、座るという行為に対する人間工学的なレスポンスから生まれた形状である。バランスボールのシンプルさと快適さに着想を得て作られた本作は、身体に動きとバランスをもたらす座面とロッキング面によってそのコンセプトが再現されている。球体の一部が切り取られたような形状であり、その残った部分がX字構造によって支えられている。テクスチャーが異なる2種類で制作された座面のうち、本作は表面が滑らかに仕上げられた仕様となる。

「X-ロッカー」は、「X-ホッカー（X-Hocker）」から派生した「Xファニチャー・ファミリー（X furniture family）」の一つである。これらのスツールは、アナログとデジタルが交差するところに位置づけられ、CNCミリング工程を用いることで、見た目には簡潔でありながら、実際には高度で複雑な噛み合わせ構造を実現している。スイス製。

The X-Rocker is assembled from three CNC cut wooden legs that interlock and cross at a single, central knot. The curved seat and base are interchangeable and are borne out of an ergonomic response to sitting. Inspired by the simplicity and comfort of an inflatable gym ball, the sitting and rocking surfaces are mimicked to give movement and balance for the body, the remaining sphere cut away and held by the X. Both surfaces can be chosen for sitting, one smooth and one with milling groves for comfort and a tactile response. 

The X-Rocker is part of the X furniture family, originating with the X-Hocker. These stools are a crossroad between analogue & digital, using CNC milling processes to create pure interlocking joints that appear simple but are in fact complex.

The X-Rocker is made in Switzerland.
