DIALOGUES by Geckeler Michels
David Geckeler (b. 1984 in Scherzingen, CH) and Frank Michels (b. 1984 in Luxemburg, LU) established their Berlin based design studio in 2013. Areas of work include furniture, lighting, products and spaces. The German-Luxembourgish design duo articulates innovative positions within a new functionalism, deliberately embracing history of design, contemporary technologies and digital design methods.
This first book from GECKELER MICHELS navigates between a monograph, a magazine, and a pamphlet of design discourse. Dialogues offers a unique insight into the studio’s design philosophy and its behind-the-scenes process, through a vast collection of images, freely arranged in an engaging flow. Featured projects were created for clients such as Fredericia, Karimoku New Standard, Muuto, Nespresso, Nike, Tecta, and ZUCCa. Conversations with renowned designers Boris Berlin, Axel Kufus, Hermann Weizenegger, and Ronan Bouroullec offer meaningful perspectives on the design industry.
