スカンジナビア発、年二回刊行のインテリア雑誌『ARK JOURNAL』の第12号。世界中の美しい住居とそこに住む人々の物語は、空間がただ美しい家具やアートを置くこと以上に哲学やパーソナリティの表現であることがわかる。2019年にデンマークの有名インテリア雑誌のエディター、スタイリストを長年勤めるメッテ・バーフォード（Mette Barfod）が創刊した本誌は「私たちの周りの空間、そこに置くオブジェクト、そのオブジェクトの作り手」をテーマにしている。建築、デザイン、アートの相互作用にスカンジナビアの価値観や美学を通してフォーカスする。本号は、3種類の表紙でお届けする。

本号では、家とデザインのつながりを探る。ここでは、単なる建物や物質だけでなく、日常生活や社会を成す無形のもの、例えば雰囲気や帰属感についても考察する。

本号の主要なテーマは、素材とその起源、そしてそれが日常生活に及ぼす文化的・歴史的な影響である。また、モダンデザインに視覚的な魅力をもたらすだけでなく、意味や本物らしさを吹き込むために組み込まれた職人技と伝統も深く掘り下げる。さらに、デザインがいかにして感情や行動に影響を与え、創造性や思索を育む親密で思慮深い空間を生み出すかを考察する。

HOMES: ニューヨークのタウンハウスはデンマークの感性を保ち、一方でアントワープの木々に囲まれたブルータリストのコンクリート住宅はフィルム・ノワールのようなストーリーを語る。芸術を中心に据えたベルリンの2つのアパートは、異なる生活とそこへの介入を反映している。

INTERVIEW: 「ニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）」の建築・デザイン部門のシニア・キュレーター、パオラ・アントネッリは（Paola Antonelli）、革命的な挑発者たる情熱を持ってデザインのあらゆるかたちを探求し、その範囲と可能性を絶えず広げる。

INTERVIEW: 日本人ファッションデザイナー、高橋盾が、東京郊外の田舎の住宅兼スタジオで、自身のランウェイコレクションや芸術、新しい家具デザインに浸透する混沌と調和の概念を育んでいる。

LIVING ARCHITECTURE: メキシコのサン・ミゲル・デ・アジェンデにある厳格で角張った形状を特徴とする住宅が、光と影の織りなす空間で、素材を通じて風景や街並みを映し出す。

DESIGN: コレクタブルデザインは、職人技と緻密に考え抜かれた現代的なオブジェへの理解を深める物語を再定義することは可能であるか。

CASE STUDY: インテリアスタイリストのパーニル・ヴェスト（Pernille Vest）が、時の模様や経年変化の美しさで特徴付けられたオブジェが織りなす儚い美しさの享受と表現を紹介する。

ART: スウェーデン人アーティスト、イルヴァ・カールグレン（Ylva Carlgren）の水彩画は、形あるものと儚いものの間で一瞬の明瞭さを捉える。

ESSAY: デンマーク人建築家マティアス・メンツェ（Matthias Mentze）は、「デザイナー」という言葉が生まれる前に存在していたかもしれない、民芸的な椅子について考察する。また、「PORTFOLIO」では、椅子が時を超えてどのようにオブジェや象徴として存在してきたかを辿る。

ARK JOURNAL VOLUME XII considers the connections between home and design, not just the structures and objects but also the immaterial, the atmospheres and sense of belonging that shape our daily lives and our society.

Central themes are materials – their origins and the cultural and historical influence on our daily lives – and craftsmanship and tradition that are integrated into modern design for visual appeal but also to instill meaning and authenticity. We explore how design influences emotions and behaviour by creating intimate and thoughtful spaces that nurture creativity and contemplation.

HOMES: a New York townhouse preserves a Danish sensibility, while a brutalist concrete house set among trees in Antwerp tells a noir-ish story. Two apartments in Berlin, both centred around art, reflect different lives and interventions.

INTERVIEW: With the passion of a revolutionary provocateur, Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture and design at The Museum of Modern Art, investigates design in all its forms, forever widening its scope and possibilities.
