日本人美術家、奈良美智の作品集。2025年1月から3月にかけてロサンゼルスの現代美術ギャラリー「ブラム（BLUM）」で開催した展覧会に伴い刊行された。

本書は、作者が近年取り組むブロンズ彫刻作品への展開と、不完全さに宿る詩的な可能性を辿る一冊である。美術史家イーワン・クーン（Yeewan Koon）による新たなエッセイを収録し、近作準備段階にあるドローイング、そして子どもや犬、高齢者たちなど展覧会来場者を捉えた遊び心ある写真群を豊富な図版とともに紹介する。そうしたイメージは、無垢、経験、そして感情の深みに対する作者の継続的な関心を映し出している。

スケールや視点の変化が如何に意味を変容させるかを探りながら、本書は多様なまなざしを通して自身の仕事を見つめたいという作者の姿勢を示している。そして、脆さとプロセスが、いかに現在の実践の中心を成しているかを明らかにする。

テキストはイーワン・クーン、ブックデザインは、デザインスタジオ「designservices.info」を主宰する、ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイナー、ブライアン・ロエッティンガー（Brian Roettinger）が手掛ける。

Published in conjunction with Yoshitomo Nara’s 2025 exhibition at BLUM Los Angeles, My Imperfect Self traces the artist’s turn toward bronze sculpture and the poetic potential of imperfection. Featuring a newly commissioned essay by art historian Yeewan Koon, this richly illustrated catalogue brings together recent works, preparatory drawings, and playful photographs of children, dogs, and elders—figures that reflect Nara’s ongoing curiosity about innocence, experience, and emotional depth. Exploring how scale and perspective shift meaning, the book underscores Nara’s desire to see his work through many eyes, revealing how vulnerability and process become central to his evolving practice.
