ISOLATED HOUSES by John Divola [REMASTERED EDITION]

アメリカ人フォトグラファー、ジョン・ディヴォラ（John Divola）の作品集。本書は2000年に刊行された同作のリマスター版として2025年に刊行された一作。

ロサンゼルスは地方分権的な都市であり、元来アメリカ人は周縁部に向かう傾向にある。本書は、都市が非計画的で無秩序に郊外へ広がっていく「都市のスプロール現象」が起きているさらに外側の辺境の地に焦点を当てている。市街地から150マイル（約240キロ）も外れたこの場所は、原始的な構造の建築物がほんのひと握り建つのみである。砂漠という限りなき平面の端にぽつんと立方体が見える。風景に点在する住まいは、一時的に置いてあるおもちゃのように見えるが、それこそが本書に収録されている写真群の核であり、存在理由なのである。緯度・経度（座標）がそれぞれの写真に添えられており、実際の場所が現在どうなっているのかを「Google Maps」で調べることもできる。
