In sixty-three images, from varying points of view, the artist documents fourteen of his \u003cem\u003eTWO PIPES\u003c\/em\u003e. Each sculpture is composed of two standard steel tubes, planted vertically in the ground. One measures five and a half meters (19’) above ground. The other pipe, cut, is of variable length. Between them, the distance is always eight centimeters (3’). Whether outdoors, in an exhibition space, or on a sheet of paper, the works known as \u003cem\u003eTWO POLES\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eTWO LINES\u003c\/em\u003e accompany \u003cem\u003ethe TWO PIPES\u003c\/em\u003e in the punctuation or marking of the space. The book, \u003cem\u003eTWO PIPES FOURTEEN LOCATIONS\u003c\/em\u003e, opens with a list of captions. These inform the reader about the dimensions and location of the pieces. The very first photograph reproduced in the book is a close-up. The image is cut and prefigures the photographic work that the artist would subsequently develop over several decades.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe TWO PIPES\u003c\/em\u003e are part of the collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst in Ghent, as well as several private collections. They have been included in numerous publications and exhibitions.
