The design and construction will be approved by the estate of Marcel Duchamp once its quality has been examined, with the desire of making 'The Museum in the Box' accessible to everyone. In the Venice pavilion, Ishigami filled all the interior walls of the pavilion with delicate a somehow naïf drawings of gardens and decided to build several greenhouses with real gardens in the outdoor gardens of the building. The following year, he finished the Kanagawa Institute of Technology Workshop, and with only two works he was acclaimed as one of the most innovative proposals of the recent Japanese architecture. Both hedonistic and restrained, the studio takes lightness and joy very seriously. Their projects can be characterized by a strong tendency towards autonomy, or better: towards an emerging independence of architectural language. The development of an own style is connected with another typical kind of commissions. Many of the refurbishment projects in Porto were initiated by private investors, trying to make a fortune by real estate speculation. After the economic crisis of 2008 the downtowns of Porto and Lisbon were confronted with a rampant boom in tourism. Speculation was propelled by special governmental measures such as the relief of a far-reaching protection against dismissal or the easy availability of golden visas. This reminds us of the principles of minimal art. However, Beshty does not understand his works as autonomous objects that are developed in interaction with the exhibition space and the viewers. Instead, he sees them within a broader context in which they are produced, transported, installed, exhibited, viewed, traded, and discussed. Beshty's works make this interdependence clear: they are conceived in such a way as to document their own genesis as well as to make visible the influences of the system in which the works also function: as a commodity, a carrier of meaning, a means of transport, a news archive, a fetish, an object of research, etc. Hence the artist deals on the one hand with the basic conditions of artistic work and on the other hand with the context in which the works are embedded, evaluated and sold. Music for the opera was composed by Nhlanhla Mahlangu and Kyle Shepherd. The images and phrases were projected on different size screens in the opera, sometimes in sync with the sung text, sometimes independent of any sung text. In the opera production, the right-hand page generally had text, and the left-hand page had a mixture of drawings and the shadow of a dancer on stage cast onto the projection surface. In this book there are more and different drawings than are used in the opera. This book is compiled and published in the time of the covid-19 pandemic, a time in which it is not possible to perform the opera live. Richter soon neglected chronology - his real interest was in iconographical and typological order. As a \"work in progress,\" the \u003cem\u003eATLAS\u003c\/em\u003e soon developed into an independent Gesamtkunstwerk mirroring biographical and historical facts - an artistic cosmos of great autonomy and source of all of his thought and creation. After the publication of \"\u003cem\u003eWar Cut\u003c\/em\u003e\" in 2004, the \"artist's book\" became an important genre in Richter's work. A series of autonomous artist's books then followed in quick succession. It was only natural that, by 2012, he had begun to consider not only reproducing the \u003cem\u003eATLAS\u003c\/em\u003e, but rearranging it as a book. His decision to show all of the plates at a scale of 1:2 makes the monumental archive, with more than 5,000 images, visible in all its details for the first time. This catalogue provides an overview of all Michaël Borremans’ work in series since 2013.
